Ryanair back in Alicante?

two fingers from O'Leary

Ryanair withdrew most of their flights from Alicante airport last year after a row with AENA, the Spanish airports authority over the use of catwalk tunnels to the planes known as fingers. Ryanair categorically stated that they did not want to use the fingers as it slowed down the turn around of their planes from the standard 25 minutes needed to maximise flying times of its fleet and would cost them €2 million a year.

Well there may just be a chink of light at the end of the tunnel as Ryanair will soon be back in Alicante. The low cost company is about to takeover many of the former routes of Spanair, the airline which went into liquidation last week, and will be flying to Barcelona 3 times a day!

Whilst the finger row is still unsettled, there is a big meeting planned for next week which could resolve the matter and lead to a resumption of low cost flights to the UK?
