I read the mixed reviews and was unsure what to do but was evetually swayed by the location. Couldn't fault the hotels position - just 100 yards from the beach and right in the heart of the old town. Having our aging parents with us meant we had a long list of requirements for any hotel to fulfil before it would become acceptable. Personally I would have chosen somewhere less dated but the old people loved it and tell me they had a great time! Having a pedestrian area right outside helped their confidence and the choice of bars in the locale meant never having to walk too far. The hotel itself was staffed by some really nice, friendly and helpful staff although some seemed to have had a humour by-pass. The facilities could really do with up-dating especially the rooms as they really are not 4* standard. The food was always plentiful but somewhat limited in choice, but again the olds were satiated. As for the pool and gym - well I managed a few exercises in the gym on a couple of days (to keep the beer gut at bay), but it really wasn't so much a gym as a room with a few old weights and "machines". The entertainment in the evenings was heavily weighed towards the Spanish and on several occasions we gave up trying to join in as the English translation was but a few words of incomprehensible explanation. All in all a decent week although the hotel itself neither meda nor ruined our enjoyment. Would we go back? Only if the old people are paying!

I stayed in the Avenida hotel from the 13to the 18 of September 2010.
As a person who uses hotels a lot, I found this hotel to be just great.
The staff are extremely helpfull and friendly. I decided to go for full board,was plesently surprised with the selection of food and quality,and one again the extremely friendly and helpfull staff in the dining room.
The hotel is spotless, I had requested a quiet room,and thats what I got,no view,which is what I expected when I requested the quiet room.
I felt extremely safe at all times in this hotel,as regarding security.This could also be due to the location of the hotel,in a nice shopping area,just next to the old town and a five minute walk to the beach.

Every day there are events put on for the guests,such as activities. I didnt get involved but felt that this was a great idea for the older guests.

I would like to thank everyone in this hotel for making my holiday special and I most certainly will be back
If you are reeding this then go right ahead and book this hotel,you will be happy you made the choice.

Hotel very nice food good and plenty of choice. Although streets noisy but this was due to xmas cheer and the hotel is in the middle of old town so this was expected. Great location for shops and the old town is certainly the best shopping area. Would go again hotel staff very friendly.

Spent New Year at the Avenida for the third year running.

Food and service excellent and the entertainment and music in the evening has something for all tastes.

Our only complaint would be that as non-smokers it is difficult to find seats in the bar away from the smoking area. If the smoking area was more screened off it would help. However as virtually every bar in Benidorm seems to permit smoking it is a problem that you appear to have to live with as the interpretation of the no-smoking ban appears vastly differnt in Spain thatn in Britain.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay, the ladies definitely enjoyed themselves !!
The other clientele did appear not to be doing so and could barely crack a smile, that said however a really enjoyable stay was had by my party and would definitely return - maybe next year.
