The reason for my visit was family business and I knew I wanted to be near the sea front. The Esmeralda Hotel has the BEST location! I had requested a high sea-view room and got one. It was such a treat to start and end the day with the superb view of the beach and ocean. We had a small balcony which we would sit out on and have a drink. Watching the waves on the beach was wonderful, day and night. The room was basic,clean and functional, exactly what you would expect from a 2 star hotel. I was pleasantly surprised. The Tapas Bar downstairs was very well run by very friendly and efficient staff. I loved the modern and funky decor, it really made a change from some old and tired outdated hotels. The rooms were all different, ours was quite simple with a black and white design. The artistic decor gave it a contemporary feel. Breakfast and dinner was very reasonable and great value for money. The location was outstanding. We were close enough to the old town to walk, and also close to the bus to go to La Cala, but we were able to walk everywhere. I would definitely stay in Esmeralda again. It was laid back, easy and efficient with of course that outstanding location.
